EARTHQUAKE HITS NEGROS ISLAND (JULY 12, 2011)

Negros Island  (Negros Oriental And Negros Occidental)

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the western coast of the Visayas region at around 4:47 a.m. Tuesday, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the tremor was 126 kilometers West, Northwest of Dumaguete City, 135 kilometers South, Southwest of Iloilo in Panay Island, and 151 kilometers South, Southwest of Bacolod City. A 5.1 aftershock followed 15 minutes after the major quake. - philippinenewsdaily.com
